Bled

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia is the lake of Bled.The lake gives you the feeling that you just walked into a fairy tail, because of the little island that lies in the middle of the lake and the castle on a high cliff above it. The mystic even becomes greater when a gondolier takes you in his 'pletna' (a romantic traditional boat) to the island where you can make a wish by ringing the old church bell. The lake of Bled was formed after the Ice Age when the glacier Bohini melted. Today the lake is 2120 metres long, 1380 metres wide and a maximum depth of 30,6 metres. With a water temperature between 20 - 25 degrees centigrade in the summer, the lake is ideal for water recreations. For this reason many tourist come to Bled and stay in one of the many hotels you find around the lake. Despite the increase of commercial activities, the lake of Bled still kept its natural beauty. Therefore, when you come to Slovenia you must visit the lake of Bled, even it is just for ringing the church bell to make your wish come true.
