Trenta

Trenta is one of the most beautiful valleys in Slovenia and it is situated in the National Triglav Park. There are many reasons for bringing this valley a visit,you can watch beautiful mountain peaks and rocks, waterfalls and the ruins from the First World War. But mostly, people come here to see the spring of the Soča river. Under the Šnita mountain, the Soča river rises out of a deep cave, from where it finds its way through  the valley.

Near the spring of the river Soča there is a monument of Julius Kugy. This botanist, philosopher and researcher came in the 19th century to Trenta, to study the valley. With a colleague he layed out the Juliana Alpine botanical garden. Today this unique garden is still open.
